Meet Our Pastor

Michael Rutledge, M. Div., M.S. is a member in good standing of Grace Presbytery. He has been an ordained minister of the Word and Sacrament for 45 years and has served in parish settings in Little Rock, Arkansas; Richardson, Texas; and Whitewright, Texas.


Michael is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He had a private practice in Dallas for 35 years prior to his retirement in December 2017. Michael holds academic degrees from Austin College, Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and East Texas State University. He has been married to Pat for 46 years. They have two adult children, Jason and Megan. When you visit First Presbyterian Church, McKinney, Reverend Rutledge will be there to meet you.

B. J. Harman

Music Director


BJ Harman is passionate about elevating the congregational worship experience in a way that encourages congregations not only to participate but also to experience God in worship.

She is an accomplished music director and worship leader with over 25 years of experience working in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Texas churches. Her professional training includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Bible and Music Education from Lancaster Bible College and a Master of Church Music from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with specialization in organ and voice.

Her previous church experience includes work as a Director of Music at South Congregational Church in Peabody, Massachusetts and at First United Methodist Church in Alvin, Texas, plus positions as short and long term substitute organist, and also children/youth choir director in the North Texas area.

BJ is a life-long Christian and musician. She began playing and singing in her home church at the age of 12 and has been participating in church music ever since. She also has a thriving piano studio and accompanies for local schools and events.

Roxanne Schnell

Outreach Coordinator / Office Administrator


Roxanne joined the church staff, initially, as the office administrator in early 2020.  Subsequently, she was asked to take on the role of Outreach Coordinator for the church, which she happily accepted.  She enjoys the ongoing challenges both positions present and loves to problem solve.  Roxanne and her family moved to Texas in 2014 from the Illinois/Iowa region of the Midwest.  She has 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren.  Roxanne has an extensive background in marketing and sales as well as a history of professional medical practice development and management.  She has been in real estate sales as well for nearly three decades.  You will usually find her accompanied by her six-pound Yorkie, "Coco", who has taken on the role of the official "church greeter"!  Roxanne can be reached by email at fpcoffice@att.net or by calling the church office phone at 972-548-9888.

Our members recognize the authority of God and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip believers for the work of the ministry in the fullness of Christ.
