Four Ladies Window

The Margie Lovejoy, Ethel Varner, Annie B. McWilliams, Cassie Seay Window

author:  Annie Belle McKey

A lovely window in the south wall of the sanctuary was the gift of four teenage girls, Margie Lovejoy, Ether Varner, Annie B. McWilliams, and Cassie Seay.  The window is multi-colored, with brown, gold and green predominating.  There are effective accents of ruby glass.

The four girls were members of Mrs. W. C. McAuley’s Sunday School class.  On each Saturday afternoon, they met at the home of Mrs. S. H. Abbott, who helped them with their money making projects.  The girls especially enjoyed giving ice cream suppers.

Margie Lovejoy married G. W. Comegys and lived in McKinney.  Ethel Varner was the daughter of A. C. Varner.  She and her brother, David, were active in Sunday School.  The family moved away from McKinney after a few years.  Cassie Seay, a niece of Mrs. Aaron Coffee, married Avery Dowell and lived in McKinney.  Annie Belle McWilliams, Mrs. J. A. McKey, is [was] a member of this congregation.
